On Oct. 26th at 3 p.m., six board members of Health & Wellness Connection Committee Mrs. Li, Mrs. Ting, Ms. You, Mrs. Ho, Mrs. Chen and Mr. Chen hosted the first “Three High Discussion” meeting. Forty-five residents who have been suffering from the “Three-High” ailments (high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes) participated in the meeting. They started the meeting by practicing wellness exercises. Then, residents were educated on the “Three-High” issues, including their symptoms, origins, cures, and most importantly, prevention. The “Three-High” patients must closely follow the instructions of their primary doctors and check their blood pressure, cholesterol and sugar levels in a timely manner. They should also maintain healthy lifestyles by watching their diets and exercising regularly. At the end of the meeting, one of the board members Mrs. Liang asked everyone to read her poem, “Healthy Long Life” together and a flyer with information for preventing Three-High was passed out. Everyone had a great time! Thanks to everyone for a successful first “Three-High” discussion! Remember to continue to Participate with your Health Plan! Also, please see the Wellness Director or Nurse Navigator for your vital signs, drop in clinic and any other issues relating to your health.
